How to Create an Accent Wall in Your Living Room
When decorating your living room, you should consider creating an accent wall. Some homeowners assume that all the walls in their living room must feature the same color and visual style, but this isn't necessarily true. It's perfectly fine to use a different color and style for one wall. Known as an accent wall, it can invigorate your living room's aesthetics by introducing new visual elements into the environment. So, how do you create an accent wall in your living room?
Determine Which Wall You Want to Make an Accent Wall
First and foremost, you'll need to determine which wall in your living room that you'd like to make an accent wall. Regardless of how many walls your living room, only a single wall should be used as an accent wall. You can choose any single wall to use an accent wall, but some walls are better suited for this purpose than others.
As shown in the image above, you can define the focal wall -- the prominent wall in front or around your seating furniture -- as the accent wall. Alternatively, you can use any other wall as the accent wall. Just remember to choose a wall that's highly visible and not concealed in the back of your living room where it's not easily seen.
Choose an Appropriate Color for the Accent Wall
After identifying the location of your accent wall, you should choose an appropriate color in which to paint it. The entire purpose of an accent wall is to introduce new visual elements that aren't found in the other walls. Therefore, you'll need to paint it a different color than the rest of the walls of your living room.
You can choose a color for the accent wall in one of two ways. One idea is to paint the accent wall in a slightly darker or lighter tone than the rest of the walls in your living room. Another idea is to paint the accent wall in a completely different color that contrasts with the rest of the walls of your living room.
Decorate the Accent Wall With Attractive Artwork
No accent wall is complete without attractive artwork. Even if you paint it in an appropriate color, the accent wall won't offer much value to your living room's aesthetics unless it's decorated with attractive artwork.
If you're struggling to find attractive artwork for your living room's accent wall, check out the meaning of name prints sold here at TheNameStore. After framing them, you can hang the meaning of name prints on the accent wall.
