Considering that the average family washes and dries about eight to 10 loads of clothes per week, the laundry room is an important area in the home. Unfortunately, many homeowners neglect to decorate their laundry room. They either assume that it's not worth decorating or that it's too difficult to decorate. By investing your time and energy into decorating your laundry room, however, you'll create a more attractive and enjoyable space for doing laundry.
#1) Use Baskets for Storage
Baskets are an invaluable decorative element in laundry rooms. They serve two purposes: adding color and minimizing clutter. Depending on the size and shape of your laundry room, you may be able to place some baskets in the corner. Even if your laundry room is small, you can probably place baskets elsewhere, such as on top of the washing machine or dryer.
#2) Install Shelves
In addition to baskets, you can install shelves for more storage space in your bathroom. Baskets are great for storing clothes -- either clean or dirty -- but they aren't suitable for other common items in the laundry room, such as detergent, dryer sheets and bleach. For items such as these, you should use shelves. Just install one or more shelves on the wall over your washing machine and dryer, at which point you can use the shelves to store common items.
#3) Hang Artwork on Walls
Don't forget to decorate the walls of your laundry room with artwork. Without artwork covering the walls, your laundry room will look and feel bland. If there's any empty wall space, fill it with decorative artwork. For artwork ideas, check out some of the home decor products offered here at TheNameStore.
#4) Choose the Right Colors
When decorating your laundry room, you must choose the right combination of colors. You don't have to necessarily use the same colors as your living room, kitchen or other areas in your home. You should, however, choose colors for your laundry room that match the surrounding decor.
#5) Use a Rug or Mat
Why should you use a rug or mat in your laundry room? Assuming it's a colorful, high-quality rug or mat, it will enhance the decor. More importantly, though, a rug or mat can protect your laundry room's floors from damage. You can place a rug or mat underneath your washing machine and dryer, for example, to protect your floors from scratches.
